Restaging of Alison Knowles’ “Newspaper Music”

During The International Fluxus Festival of the Newest Music in 1962, Alison Knowles presented a concert of speech called “Newspaper Music”, which consisted of four newspaper readers and herself as the conductor. The four readers read articles from different newspapers as she plays with the volume of their voices by using multiple crescendos and decrescendos. ¬†For fun I decided to make a quick recreation of it with the help of Wesleyan students Gianya Breland ’14, Annie Flom ’17, Mimiko Goldstein ’17 and Tory Mathieson ’14. Enjoy!
